Ingredients

  • 2–3 lbs. ground hamburger, 80/20 or 93/7
  • 1 package (3 oz.) Som’ Good Hawaiian Chili Mix
  • 1 large onion, diced
  • 1 can (15 oz.) tomato sauce
  • 1 can (14.5 oz.) diced tomatoes
  • 2 cans (15.25 oz. each) kidney beans, liquid drained
  • Optional: Substitute pinto beans for kidney beans

Instant Pot Preparation

  1. Set the Instant Pot to Sauté. Add the ground beef and cook until browned. Drain any excess liquid.
  2. Add the diced onion, Som’ Good Hawaiian Chili Mix, tomato sauce, diced tomatoes, and drained kidney beans. Stir well to combine.
  3. Secure the lid and pressure cook on High for 10 minutes.
  4. Allow the Instant Pot to naturally release pressure for 10 minutes, then carefully perform a quick pressure release.
  5. Stir the chili for 1–2 minutes and allow it to rest for approximately 5 minutes before serving.

Traditional Stovetop Preparation

  1. Brown the ground beef in a Dutch oven or large pot over medium heat. Drain any excess liquid.
  2. Add the diced onion, Som’ Good Hawaiian Chili Mix, tomato sauce, diced tomatoes, and drained kidney beans.
  3. Stir well and bring the chili to a boil.
  4. Reduce the heat to low or medium-low and simmer for approximately 1 1/2–2 hours, stirring approximately every 20 minutes.
  5. Remove from the heat and allow the chili to rest for approximately 5 minutes before serving.

Make It Your Own

Top your Hawaiian Chili with shredded cheese, chopped green onions, sour cream, avocado, cilantro, jalapeños, or crushed tortilla chips.

You can also substitute pinto beans for the kidney beans or use a combination of both. Serve your chili with steamed rice, cornbread, warm tortillas, or simply enjoy a big bowl all on its own.
